Lapsed Judgement

Like curdled sour milk
you return from the back of my throat,
putrid in all that you leave behind,
killing the butterflies in my stomach
to replace them with gurgles of
bad memories and aches;
head spinning, nostalgia induced
pains so vivid, so phony
yet cunning enough to pass
as okay to ingest.
Liar.
