When Agreements End

Tingles sent toward my stomach
every time you came around
And I couldn’t help but cater to your
every asking
All but breathing for you
Because, just as you warned,
nobody else wanted me
As powerful as the voiceless can be
You made better choices for me
and though they sent me fumbling
against the floor, composure nil,
Your words weren’t wasted when reassuring my salted tears to stop
That I was a special kind of no one
Wisest when orders were followed
And I agreed,
For a long while I agreed,
Until I didn’t

Shhh, try not to talk,
it’ll do you no good with this thing pointed at your throat
